Make clean plunge cuts, sharp score lines, and tight interior corner cuts with this premium tool kit from Beauty Mercado. This set comes with the authentic swann morton handle No.3 and ultra-sharp No.11P Non-Sterile Carbon Steel Blades. It is the ultimate standard for fine medical and surgical training, laboratory dissection, fine marquetry, graphic design, and micro-electronics.
Made in Sheffield, England, by Swann-Morton, this solid stainless steel handle lasts a lifetime. The No.11P features a long, triangular blade with a razor-sharp edge and an incredibly fine, reinforced point. This long angle gives you a completely open sightline to cut down precisely where you need to with zero drift.
Key Features
-
Long Triangular Point: The No.11P blade features an elongated straight cutting angle tapering to a needle-sharp tip, perfect for deep plunge cuts, fine weeding, and initial surgical incisions.
-
Total Sightline Control: The low-profile triangular shape ensures your hand never blocks your direct line of sight while tracking fine lines or performing precise biological dissections.
-
Genuine swann morton handle: The No.3 handle is forged from premium stainless steel. It fits comfortably like a fine pen and features flat sides to stop it from rolling off your workbench or medical tray.
-
High-Performance Carbon Steel: This classic metal holds a significantly sharper, keener edge than stainless steel variations, cutting smoothly through dense tissues or synthetic materials.
-
Zero-Flex Interlocking Fit: The blade snaps securely into the small fitment chassis of the No.3 handle, completely stopping blade wiggle and tip vibrations.
-
Universal Base Tool: This handle serves as a permanent studio or lab tool that accepts other small fitment blades like No.10, 11, 12, 15, and 15A.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the actual structural difference between a No.11 and a No.11P blade?
While both look identical at a quick glance, the No.11P is a specialized variant. The standard No.11 has a perfectly straight cutting edge all the way to the tip. The No.11P has a slightly altered, reinforced spine and a fractionally wider point angle. This subtle change gives the tip more structural strength, making the No.11P less likely to snap when stabbing, poking holes, or pushing hard into dense mediums like tough tissue blocks, thick vinyl, or heavy card.
Can I use this triangular point blade for fine wood carving or whittling?
No, we do not recommend it. Because the No.11P is incredibly thin and tapers to a fine needle point, it is designed for slicing, weeding, and vertical plunge cuts. If you apply heavy side-pressure (lateral force) to carve or twist out deep chunks of hardwood, you will likely snap the delicate tip. For heavy wood carving, a wider and stiffer blade profile like the Swann-Morton No.10A is a much safer option.
Why do my carbon steel blades sometimes stick inside the foil packaging?
To keep non-sterile carbon steel blades completely pristine during storage, Swann-Morton treats the protective inner foil wrapper with a special chemical layer called a Vapour Phase Inhibitor (VPI). This invisible anti-rust shield can sometimes create a light, slightly tacky seal with the metal. If a blade feels stuck, do not rip the packet open aggressively with your fingers; simply use your pliers or forceps to grip the exposed rear slot of the blade and slide it out cleanly.
Will the sharp point of the No.11P scratch my cutting mat more than other blades?
Yes, if you use a heavy hand. Because the No.11P concentrates all your downward pressure onto a tiny, razor-sharp point, it will slice deeper into standard self-healing cutting mats than a rounded blade. When cutting paper, stencils, or vinyl, use a very light, dragging pen-grip touch. The weight of the premium stainless steel handle does most of the cutting work for you.
How do I clean adhesive glue residue off the blade without ruining the sharpness?
When cutting stickers, tapes, or vinyl, sticky adhesive can build up along the flat side of your blade and cause dragging. Never wipe the cutting edge with a rough cloth or use your fingernail. Instead, remove the blade from the handle using pliers, dip it into a small splash of Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) for a few seconds, and gently pat it dry with a lint-free microfiber cloth. This clears the glue instantly without dulling the microscopic edge.
Safety Warnings
-
Be Careful: These blades are incredibly sharp. Never use your bare fingers to push the blade onto the handle or pull it off. Use surgical forceps, pliers, or a proper blade removal tool.
-
Safe Disposal: Throw away used blades into a hard plastic sharps container. Do not throw loose blades into the trash.
